Bristol Old Vic Young Company to run a Summer School at prestigious Art Gallery this Summer
“Art is power.” - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
“Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.” - Twyla Tharp
Following the success of last year’s Summer School, Bristol Old Vic Young Company are delighted to be partnering with the Hauser and Wirth gallery in Bruton, Somerset again to deliver a two week Summer School for children in Bruton and the surrounding areas.
Directed by Miranda Cromwell, with Music by Alistair Debling and Design by Jack Offord, this year’s course will use the unique and thought provoking setting of Durslade Farm as inspiration for the participants to create a brand new piece of theatre in response to the exhibition ‘Jenny Holzer, Softer Targets’.
Working with the professional creative team, the young people will explore the skills needed to create an original script, music and narrative and perform a brand new play of their own making at the end of the course.
The workshop will run from 17-27 August, 10am – 5pm and is available to children aged 11 to 19.
