Grin-mania hits the Backstage Bar Friday 30 Sep!

The West-End stars from Bristol Old Vic's brand new musical The Grinning Man are well into rehearsals and wanted to share a couple of the numbers from the show with the people of Bristol as a Friday night, end-of-the-week treat.

On Friday 30 Sep at 6.30pm, Bristol Old Vic are presenting exclusive live performances of songs from the show. Performing in our laidback Backstage Bar, with comfy sofas and the feel of a New York loft, it's the perfect space for Bristol to get a taste of the show. An intimate setting where you'll be treated to the vocal talents of the lead actors from this macabre new musical.

A free event which all are invited to attend, a drinks promotion will run in the Backstage Bar (Bar of the Week, Bristol24/7), with 20% off all drinks purchased between 6-7pm.

The Grinning Man is a brand new tragic and darkly comic musical directed by Tom Morris (War Horse) and fro the imagination of the writer of Les Mis. Brought to life by Kneehigh writer Carl Grose (Dead Dog in a Suitcase) featuring a sensational original score by Tim Phillips and Marc Teitler and puppetry from Gyre & Gimble, the original puppeteers of War Horse.

Set in an alternate world where Bristol is the capital city, and the performers of the Stokes Croft fair are the talk of the town, The Grinning Man follows the story of Grinpayne (played by rising star Louis Maskell) a handmade freak with a hideously beautiful face. But who is he really? And how did he come to be so marked? Unfolding before a Bristol backdrop, this is a tale so tragic and so strange that not even he can guess how it will end.

Join us for a grin-tastic night!
