White Caps
A Bristol Old Vic and Theatre Bristol co-commission.
31 March - 03 April 2010 8pm £10/£7
White Caps follows the journey of two men as they embark on an epic adventure; a compassionate, exhilarating search for completeness.
Expressed through cinematic film and bboy performance, White Caps brings one of the world's most exciting and raw cultures into the theatre. Witness this new fusion of moving image and break dancing performed by Champloo Dance Company.
Bristol based Champloo create dance works through live performance and film with a strong emphasis on cross art form collaboration. They teach extensively and manage the Champloo Youth Crew.
Champloo have created some podcasts to give some insight into the journey they have taken to reach their goal. Wilkie Branson, Director, explained,
"When we began White Caps in June 2009 we knew that the creation itself would draw some parallels between the show's journey and it's struggles, but we had no idea just how much of an adventure it would become. After setting out to create a dance piece it wasn't long before we found ourselves on an epic pathway to reach our real-life White Caps. We decided to capture the story behind the show and publish it in video podcasts so everyone could share in this journey."
Podcast Episode 5 - Journey's End
In this final instalment Wilkie, Splendid and Joel introduce a retrospective podcast from the top of a mountain in Wales. Looking back over the last 10 month's adventures we see the team's ups and downs as well as a look forward to the show's opening in March.
