Visiting Bristol Old Vic...

General Access

Customers requiring wheelchair access to our Theatre can utilise the Stage Door lift which provides entry to both the Backstage Bar and the performance space.

Our new Theatre entrance is situated off Queen Charlotte Street via Rackhay. This road is a fire access road, regrettably there is no fixed drop off point however, if you require drop off in Rackhay for access reasons, we are able to accommodate this on request. Please contact stagedoor@bristololdvic.org.uk or phone 0117 949 3993.

There are parking spaces around the corner on King Street for blue badge holders. Please note that King street is a cobbled street.

In the Theatre

There are allocated wheelchair spaces in the Theatre in the Dress Circle; please book in advance by phoning 0117 987 7877 and let us know of any other access requirements you have. Please note that only the Dress Circle has step free access. All other levels of the auditorium have steps. Please email access@bristololdvic.org.uk for more information about how best to navigate the building during our redevelopment.

Audio Described performances this season

Audio Described (AD) performances provide theatre experiences for partially sighted or visually impaired audiences. Audience members listen to a live narrator who details what is happening on stage, through a set of headphones. Free touch tours of the set and stage are offered before the show; audience members also receive a set of stage notes prior to the performance to ensure a full sensory experience in our theatre.
