Accessibility

We want to make your visit to the Bristol Old Vic as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, so we have provided you with detailed information regarding accesibility in all areas of the theatre.

General access

 

On entering the building there are 6 steps leading up to the main foyer.

There is a platform lift for wheelchair users and those with restricted mobility.

 

There are allocated wheelchair spaces in all our performance areas.

Please book in advance and mention any access requirements at this time. 

 

Access information the Theatre Royal:

 

The Dress Circle, where the allocated wheelchair spaces can be found, is accessed from the foyer level. The Theatre Bar is also on this level.

The Stalls are accessed via the lower horseshoe which includes 3 short flights of stairs, totalling 30 steps.

The Upper Circle and the Café Bar are located up 28 steps on the 1st floor level.

Any member of the front of house team will be happy to place orders for food and drink upstairs on your behalf and bring them down to the Theatre Bar.

The Gallery is a further 22 steps up from the Upper Circle.

 

Currently there is no lift available to any level higher than the foyer.

 

Access information for the Studio:

 

The Studio Balcony level seating is accessed from the foyer level, where the allocated wheelchair spaces are for the majority of studio performances.

The Studio Pit level seating is accessed down 15 Steps, but is also accessible by the platform lift for certain performances.

 

Access information for other spaces:

 

The Basement is accessed down 15 Steps, but is also accessible by the platform lift for certain performances.

The Paintshop is on foyer level and is accessed via a slight ramp.

The performance will be described through use of a headset.

Other Access Information

 

A Sound Enhancement system through use of a headset or individual loop is available for any of our performances in the theatre or studio

 

The accessible toilet facilities are located on the foyer level of the building in the Theatre Bar.

 

Guide, hearing or other working dogs are welcome.

 

Parking spaces nearby for blue badge holders

 

People with disabilities requiring an accompanying person can bring that person free.

 

An audio tape/disc, Braille or large print version of our forthcoming show information can be made available

 

Also an Audio tape/disc version of the current show programme can be made available
