About Us
The Organisations
Bristol Old Vic Trust exists for “the advancement of education of the public in the appreciation and understanding of the dramatic and musical arts in all their forms.”
The Theatre Royal Complex is owned by the Theatre Royal Trust, in trust for the nation, with the exception of the Coopers’ Hall (main frontage/entrance hall), which is owned by Bristol City Council and leased to the Trust for a peppercorn rent. The Theatre Royal Trust leases the entire Complex to the Bristol Old Vic Trust.
Both Trusts are working in partnership on the redevelopment project, with Bristol Old Vic taking the lead in the fundraising process. A Joint Agreement has been drawn up between the two Trusts, in order to clarify responsibility and decision making for the project, and a Joint Project Board formed to oversee the development of the project and its subsequent delivery. This Board works with experts from the Project & Design Team and Heritage Team to ensure the steady progress of the project.
