Tomorrow sees the final performances of The Crucible and Jane Eyre, the final bow for students at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. The reaction has been great. Reviews have filtered in from Venue and The Bristol Evening Post and they are very complimentary.
“Under Sue Wilson’s fine direction, the graduating BOVTS cast manage the play’s relentlessly mounting tension brilliantly” Venue on The Crucible (4 stars).
“Pitman-Wallace’s excellent direction and Hall’s flawless script” Bristol Evening Post on Jane Eyre (6/10).
So again we wave goodbye to another brood of budding thesps (some, its fair to say, have blossomed already). However, there are still tickets left for the performances tonight and tomorrow (mat & eve) so if you haven’t yet had a chance to see the future of British acting talent - come along!
Ticket are available via the Box Office on 0117 987 7877 or click HERE for The Crucible or HERE for Jane Eyre.

Apples is only a week away from its run in Bristol Old Vic’s Studio Theatre and tickets are starting to get snapped up. This pulsating new show, adapted by John Retellack, loosely sets the story of Adam & Eve in a night club where Ecstasy represents the forbidden, eponymous fruit and issues of teenage sex and drugs are given an honest and non-preachy airing.
Originally written as a novel by nineteen year old Richard Milward, Appleswill feel relevant to today’s teens as well as providing a valuable insight into the lives of contemporary youths which may help to pull back the hoods on the stereotypes - for those of us who just see them as loitering figures on street corners!
If you haven’t yet got your ticket, please be quick to avoid disappointment, Apples promises to bring a fresher flavour of theatre to Bristol old Vic. Also perfect for groups and schools.

Bristol Old Vic Young Company made the pages of The Bristol Evening Post this week when a rehearsal for the Harbour Festival stopped passers-by in their tracks. Performing a slow-motion run down the cobbles of King Street provided a real head-turner as well as a sneak preview of their upcoming performances of Run, Fallen and The Sleep Book.
These are new commissions from the Harbour Festival and represent the Young Company’s first involvement in proceedings. King Street will be transformed into a performance space for the shows which will take place outside.

The Sunday Times review of Far Away gave the performance a solid four stars:
“It’s barely an hour long, but Caryl Churchill’s three-part play is as rich and disturbing as anything we’ve seen this century. First performed at the Royal Court in 2000, here it is given a remarkably good revival by Simon Godwin”. ****
Tickets are still available via the Box Office on 0117 987 7877 or by following this link for more details: http://www.bristololdvic.org.uk/769.html
