Bristol Ferment needs you!  ↓ Leave a comment

Bristol theatre-makers are currently fermenting work at Bristol Old Vic and are in need of your assistance!

There is, for the next couple of weeks (2 - 17 July), an eclectic selection of plays, poems and performances being showcased in different parts of the building - all of which are in various stages of development. Be it a rehearsed reading or an embryonic idea looking for clarification, the artists involved are in desperate need of feedback, comment and analysis. The whole purpose of the initiative is to help nurture local talent whilst simultaneously providing inexpensive entertainment for audiences. With tickets ranging from £4 to FREE, we want to encourage you to become a part of the theatre-making process.

If you have seen any of the shows we would love to hear your thoughts… however candid! Feel free to post comments on this thread, and we can pass them on to the artists involved. You can also post comments on the main website HERE, or alternatively do it the old-fashioned way with pen and paper and post it into one of the boxes around the theatre.

You feedback is ESSENTIAL to Bristol Ferment so please, don’t be shy!

I saw The Mighty Beast, a promenade performance around the paintshop. I enjoyed it!

The staging, effects and lighting were excellent and made the most of the space in order to bring the atmosphere of the piece to the fore.

I felt that the male characters had more freedom than the female, it felt a little like the female character was more of a narrator and it would have been nice if she had been given more depth, perhaps.

The things I liked the most were the use of sounds such as the gate opening and closing, the visual effects such as the straw dust floating up into the light, the excellent intensity and comedic flair of the auctioneer, and the fact that the piece and the audience felt very relaxed. As an ex-vegatarian I had mixed feelings about the subject matter but it certainly made me think…

Great stuff, I think if it is developed it should be a seated piece in the same space.

The use of the writing was excellent and the poetry flowed well. Again, it shows how funny poetry can be!

I also saw The Mighty Beast and I really enjoyed it. I love how the writing was done and it was all perfectly preformed.
