The Cotham Young Directors project gives young directors the opportunity to hone their practice with young people living in Bristol and the opportunity to showcase their work at Bristol Old Vic.

The Cotham Young Directors Project was a fantastic chance to broaden and develop directing and workshop leading skills. Working with students from Cotham aged from year 10 - year 13, the project gives the space and resources to start thinking creatively and professionally about working as a director. Being able to work closely with another young director and develop a devised performance with the students taught me a great deal and it was lovely to be a part of such a supportive environment.

- Masie Newman, Cotham Assistant Director 2014/15

"Bristol Old Vic Outreach Department and Cotham School's Young Director's Project gave me the opportunity to plan and execute my own production with an ensemble cast of twelve talented and enthusiastic Cotham students between the ages of Yr10-Yr13. It gave me paid professional development as well as the chance to work on my own creative ideas, and run my own rehearsal room. All though some of the students had never experienced devising before we built a forty minute ensemble show together which we then put on at Cotham School and at Bristol Old Vic in the studio. It was a brilliant experience and has helped me learn a huge amount."

- Stephanie Kempson, Cotham Director 2013/14
