Writing for Young People
This four-session course explores the challenge of writing for young people from two different perspectives; looking firstly at collaboration in young company and large cast settings, and secondly at writing for teenagers as a target audience.
The sessions on offer will explore methods for connecting creatively with young people, building a shared relationship between large casts and your writing process, and what it means to create a young person's voice in your work. The course will also draw on recently commissioned texts and projects by professional writers, helping you investigate different ways to explore, express and engage with the world from a young person's perspective.
The course is run by playwright and dramaturg David Lane who has written for young companies at Theatre Royal Plymouth, the egg, Forest Forge, Proteus Theatre, Cheltenham Everyman, Sixth Sense and Salisbury Playhouse, and been commissioned twice to write professional work for touring to teenage audiences.
Sessions will run Thursdays 7.00pm - 9.00pm, 4th - 25th July.
Cost for four week course : £55
