A Bristol Old Vic and The Wardrobe Ensemble co-production
Devised by the company
Based on an original picture book by Edward Ardizzone

Bristol Old Vic's Studio Walkabout Season

Tim wants to be a sailor. He knows all the knots, can name every boat and sing all the sailors' songs. But there's one problem; he is much too young! So, one day, he accidentally-on-purpose stows away on a steam ship and meets the Brave Sea Captain. Will he earn his sea legs, chart the ocean blue and sail home to his family?

Transforming The Lantern at Colston Hall into a nautical playground, Little Tim... will be brought to life by the magical Wardrobe Ensemble (Eloise and the Curse of the Golden Whisk), based on the 80-year old classic story by Edward Ardizzone. In their sea-safe hands, you will enjoy an interactive voyage featuring sea shanties, music and dance that is perfect for ages 0-7 and their families.

The Lantern at Colston Hall

Colston Hall is on Colston Street, off the city centre promenade. From Bristol Old Vic on King Street, walk to the end of the road past Graze restaurant, cross the city centre promenade and turn right outside Bristol Hippodrome to access Colston Hall.

This year we began redevelopment works to transform our King Street entrance into a welcoming, vibrant space and build a brand new Studio theatre designed by award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins. During this time, it will be business as usual in the Theatre with our brilliant programme on offer, and we're taking our Studio programme on Walkabout around Bristol!

Little Tim and the Brave Sea Captain is part of our first Studio Walkabout Season, inspired by the city-wide partnerships created during the Theatre's first phase of refurbishment in 2011 which saw us stage productions in other venues including Coram Boy with our friends at Colston Hall.

Please note the venue of this show, and we hope you will join us as we stretch our legs across the city and continue to enjoy our brilliant studio programme.
