"Everything human beings do finishes up bad in the end.
Everything good human beings ever make is built on something monstrous.
Nothing lasts. We certainly won't..."

Year 13. The school year that entire futures depend upon.

In the old library of a private grammar school, a group of pupils feel the pressure of their looming mock exams. As the tests creep disconcertingly near, the teenagers must balance the viciousness of adolescence against society's expectations of adulthood. Under a veneer of prosperity, these intelligent, engaged and well-educated young people are beginning to crack. Inevitably, something has to give.

Directed by Lisa Gregan (Under A Cardboard Sea) and presented by Bristol Old Vic Young Company, this vital and immediate play from acclaimed playwright Simon Stephens asks us all to question how young people today deal with the demands placed upon them.

A remarkable new play [which] confronts young people as they really are"

Last year we began redevelopment works to transform our King Street entrance into a welcoming, vibrant space and build a brand new Studio theatre designed by award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins. During this time, it will be business as usual in the Theatre with our brilliant programme on offer, and we're taking our Studio programme on Walkabout around Bristol!

Punk Rock continues our Studio Walkabout Season, inspired by the city-wide partnerships created during the Theatre's first phase of refurbishment in 2011 which saw us stage productions in other venues including Coram Boy with our friends at Colston Hall.

Please note the venue of this show is The Lantern at Colston Hall. We hope you will join us as we stretch our legs across the city and continue to enjoy our brilliant studio programme.
