An ëpic tale of viølence, greed and chëap sofas.
The Wardrobe Ensemble emerged at Bristol Old Vic during the first year of its Made in Bristol scheme. RIOT was devised and debuted at Bristol Old Vic in June 2011.
Since then, the show transferred to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim, sell-out audiences and nomination for The Stage Award for Acting Excellence: Best Ensemble. In 2012 RIOT toured to theatres across the UK and USA.
RIOT is a true story set in a lamp-lit flat-pack universe bursting with violence, chaos and more characters than you can throw a meatball at. Hammered together with physical theatre and music, The Wardrobe Ensemble tear up the instructions and disregard the diagrams to construct a comedic tragedy of a thoroughly modern kind.
RIOT forms part of SPRING, a coming together of exceptional work by young people. Bristol Old Vic's Young Company has met with astonishing success over the last two years with sell-out shows, touring productions, invites to play the National Theatre and our other Outreach projects - be they our Made in Bristol scheme, our work in schools and communities or our programme of workshops and activities for all - are going from strength to strength.
SPRING is a celebration of the achievements of those young people.
