A Bristol Old Vic Young Company Production
By Timberlake Wertenbaker

Please note, door sales at the Bierkeller Theatre are cash only

Set in a land ravaged by war, two sisters are torn apart. They strive to find power in a society dominated by men. In this patriarchal world asking questions is dangerous and turning a blind eye is routine. Can the truth be heard when free speech is lost and victims are shamed?

In this fierce and modern interpretation, Bristol Old Vic Young Company present Timberlake Wertenbaker's The Love of the Nightingale, a play to challenge perceptions of consent, gender and sexuality.

Performed in a nightclub with a cocktail of original rave music, dance and a twist of humour, Bristol Old Vic Young Company tackle this ancient myth in their own unique, anarchic way.

Accessibility
While we are redeveloping our theatre, we are taking our Studio season on Walkabout to different venues around Bristol. Unfortunately the Bierkeller is not an access friendly venue. There are 19 stairs up from street level to the performance space making it inaccessible for wheelchair users.

For more information about access to the Bierkeller, please contact Box Office on 0117 987 7877 or email tickets@bristololdvic.org.uk.

This year we began redevelopment works to transform our King Street entrance into a welcoming, vibrant space and build a brand new Studio theatre designed by award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins. During this time, it will be business as usual in the Theatre with our brilliant programme on offer, and we're taking our Studio programme on Walkabout around Bristol!

The Love of the Nightingale continues our Studio Walkabout Season, inspired by the city-wide partnerships created during the Theatre's first phase of refurbishment in 2011 which saw us stage productions in other venues including Coram Boy with our friends at Colston Hall.

Please note the venue of this show, and we hope you will join us as we stretch our legs across the city and continue to enjoy our brilliant studio programme.
