Tim Pigott-Smith Memorial Celebration

Presented by Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School invitate Bristol to join them in celebrating the life and career of one of Bristol Old Vic's best known and most respected company members, Tim Pigott-Smith.

A long-time friend of the Theatre, Tim Pigott-Smith trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before going on to make his name in The Jewel in the Crown and more recently the Olivier Award-winning King Charles III.

Speaking of the actor, Tom Morris (Artistic Director, Bristol Old Vic) said:

He was a truly great actor, whose skill and ambition seemed to deepen with the years. He was also a profoundly generous and passionate lover of Bristol Old Vic theatre and this city, where he studied, trained as an actor, and began his career, describing that time as "the dream come true."

Over the last ten years, Tim renewed his relationship with Bristol Old Vic and was a persuasive advocate in the fundraising which has made possible the current refurbishment of the Front of House areas of the theatre.

We will always be inspired by his skill and his passion and Bristol will never forget him.

Many of Tim's colleagues from stage and screen will gather at Bristol Old Vic this November to share their stories. We welcome Christopher Biggins, John Caird, Stephanie Cole, Alan Cordina, Bob Crowley, Daniel Hill, Pippa Haywood, Nicholas Farrell and Greta Scacchi, alongside messages from many other comrades including Jeremy Irons and Sinead Cusack. It is certain to be a joyous night, with performances from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School students who follow in Tim's illustrious footsteps.

All proceeds from the event will contribute towards the Peter O'Toole Prize, a cause that Tim felt passionately about. The Peter O'Toole Prize continues the tradition of supporting talented Bristol Old Vic Theatre School graduates by offering opportunities to launch careers at Bristol Old Vic.

In summer 2016 we began redevelopment works to transform our Front of House entrance on King Street into a welcoming, vibrant space that everyone will be able to enjoy. During this time, it will be business as usual in the Theatre with our brilliant programme on offer, however there are a few changes to how we'll be operating.

Theatre Entrance

You are now invited to enter the Theatre through our Stage Door, walking in the footsteps of theatre legends such as Peter O'Toole, Daniel Day-Lewis and Miranda Richardson.

Our temporary Theatre entrance can be accessed via Rackhay (BS1 4HJ) off Queen Charlotte Street, around the corner from King Street.

Ticket Collection

On performance days, tickets can be collected from Box Office situated in our Backstage Bar opening 90 mins prior to each performance.
